With President's Day just around the corner, national park visitors might be surprised to learn that we've had a president who did a stint as a ranger at Yellowstone. Gerald Ford was 23 when he was stationed at Yellowstone, where one of his duties was protecting other park rangers who fed bears at the bear-feeding truck, a popular visitor attraction at the time.

Copper Mountain Resort, long a summer hub for Colorado cyclists, will for the first time host a stage of the USA Pro Cycling Challenge. The popular epic cycling contest through the Colorado Rockies will visit Copper Aug. 19 for the start of Stage 3, Copper to Aspen.

Get a last blast of summer at Copper Mountain this weekend, as the Copper Country music festival returns to the Summit County resort with headliners Kenny Loggins and Wynonna Judd. Copper Country runs Aug. 20-31, with free music, an arts festival and goodies for the younger set.
