OK, we have to admit that we're in between storm cycles here at Copper Mountain. After a spell of snowy weather in early January, the storm door has closed for a little while ... So what's a snow-lover to do? We've been cruising the internet for good ski-related material the past few days and wanted to share a few links with you, starting with some excellent reporting from POWDER Magazine writer Mitchell Scott, who took a close look at development leading up to the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi in a digital feature called Red Pow.

Good Snow Boosts Early Season Business at Colorado Ski Areas
Timely snow and wel-timed holidays helped propel Colorado skier visits during the early season, ski industry officials said this week. At the 21 Colorado Ski Country USA member resorts, visits were up 22 percent over last year, and up more than 6 percent above the running five-year average. The metrics released by the ski industry trade association cover the time between opening day in October and Dec. 31.

The storm door is open — expect a powder weekend at Copper Mountain!
The storm door is open and winter weather continues to stream into northern Colorado in January, with National Weather Service forecasters calling for yet another powder weekend at Copper Mountain! According to the latest winter weather advisory, the mountains of Summit County could see between six to 12 inches of snow by Friday night, so be ready for a powder feast Saturday morning. The advisory ends Saturday morning at 6 a.m.

Heard About Copper’s Siesta Zones? It’s All Part of Ski Safety Month
During ski safety month at Copper Mountain, guests are welcome and encouraged to stop by Copper’s on-mountain ski patrol duty stations to enjoy a warm cup of free hot chocolate and meet patrollers and avalanche dogs. Stop by either Patrol Headquarters, which is located at the top of the Excelerator lift, and/or Timberline Patrol which is located off of the American Flyer lift.

With some of the best early season snow in recent years, we're sure that many of you have made a New Years resolution to ski more — and we'd like to help you keep it. And why not — this season is shaping up to be one of the best snow years in recent memory. Copper has picked up more than 100 inches of snow for the season, and 13 inches in the first few days of 2014, with more on the way and nearly 2,000 acres of terrain open for skiing and riding.

Copper Mountain is Ready For The New Year—Are You?
Copper Mountain will send off the old year and ring in the new with mountain style, including a New Years Eve rail session under the lights at Burning Stones Plaza, as well as a torchlight parade, a kids’ glow-light parade, and the ever-popular fire dancers and fireworks.
