With all the glitz and gloss that's part of the modern Colorado mountain resort scene, it's sometimes hard to imagine that Summit County's towns were all founded by gritty mountain men who scraped at the mountains with picks and shovels and hand-blasted daring tunnels in their quest for gold.

Music legends Kenny Rogers and Michael McDonald coming to Copper Mountain this summer

With the summer season just beginning at Copper Mountain, music fans are already looking ahead to some of the big headliners announced for two events that have become perennial favorites at the Colorado resort.

In early August, the Jerry Douglas Band is part of the lineup for Guitar Town, featuring a full slate of acoustic and electric performances, along with workshops, demos and much more. And the season-ending Copper Country Festival lineup includes country music legend Kenny Rogers, as well as Michael McDonald, who wrote many of the big Doobie Brothers hits.

Summer fun at Copper Mountain

The summer season is getting longer at Copper Mountain, as the resort opens its summer non-snow attractions and activities on June14th. Summer season passes are available for $74. Village at Copper activities will be open daily from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. on Sunday – Thursday and 10 a.m. – 7 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays.
