Copper Mountain improving access to high alpine terrain this winter
After significant upgrades to the family and learning side of the resort the last couple seasons, Copper Mountain is focusing on improving the high alpine experience by easing access to the top of the mountain. One of the biggest changes is the replacement of the Storm King Poma with new T-bar to speed skiers and snowboarders to Spaulding Bowl, Upper Enchanted Forest and Copper Bowl.

Ski industry targets Gen Y
The baby boom has crested and ski resorts around the country are targeting Generation Y as the next affluent market. The 18- to 34-year-olds represent billions in consumer spending and have earned a reputation for not wanting to be marketed to, according to SnowSports Industries America, which this week released a report delving into the generation's communication culture, and the environment they adapted-to as they matured into adults - all important insight for developing effective marketing programs.

Colorado skiing: Weather drives resort visits the past few seasons
Colorado skier-visit numbers have been on a wild ride since the last five years, slumping after the big recession, recovering to near-record levels during the super-snowy 2011 winter. Since then, weather and snow appear to be driving the train. Periodic reports from Colorado Ski Country USA from the last few years show intra-seasonal variations, with lulls during low-snow periods, and spikes when there's plentiful powder.

Copper Mountain to host snowsports trade group skiing demo event
Copper Mountain will host the big on-snow Nordic demo event Feb. 3-4, 2014 as part of the SIA On-Snow Demo/Ski-Ride Fest, bringing thousands of snow sports pros to the Summit County resort. Copper Mountain is working closely with SIA to develop a Nordic testing site, including 25k of Nordic trails currently offered to guests during the winter season. The trade group also sees the session as an opportunity to boost public interest in Nordic during an Olympic year.
